Elon Musk Says AI Will Replace Source Code
Musk endorses replacing source code with AI-generated binaries.
Musk posted that source code is on the verge of becoming like assembly and that AI should produce efficient binaries directly. The post quoted James Douma. Grady Booch posted in the thread. Nick Dobos wrote that codebases are dead and promptbases are in. Austen Allred replied "Yup" to the quoted post. A visible reply referenced Kolmogorov complexity in the context of direct binary generation.
This is exactly right. Source code is on the verge of becoming like assembly. The next step is getting rid of āsource codeā entirely and just making an efficient binary directly with AI.
I might never look the source again. It was nearly a half century ago that I stopped looking at assembly because I trusted the compiler to get it right. This feels like that.
