Cursor on iOS first impressions:
I’ve been in the TestFlight for a while now, very excited for remote control launch to actually make cursor mobile useable!
- Cloud (via Linux) is entirely useless to me as a Mac and iOS focused dev. Thx Apple. So this limits the app greatly. Cursor I beg you get Mac hosts. So yay remote controlling my laptop is finally available and the app is actually usable!
- Cursor iOS App is nice, and I like the live activities and notifications. UX feels a little weird coming from codex. But it’s very grey and hospital walls. vibe eww.
- You have to use /remote-control like Claude code to get a local thread appearing on mobile. This kinda sucks cuz you can’t start a new thread from mobile. Their marketing for the app says “kick off agents” but that’s not actually possible. I hope cursors compaction is good cuz I’m never starting a new thread now.
- remote control UX is weird. 1 you can’t send it with an empty message so you send a prompt and connect at same time? 2. It asked me to include some uncommitted files in the cloud agent? What cloud agent? Then it errors and disconnects, if I choose to exclude them the cloud agent(???) launches, then if ask to run git status and I see my files??? I have no idea what’s going on? But seems to have local access?
- I could really use automations on mobile too. Especially since cursors notifs are way better that codex
Overall feels nice but awkward to hold. For day one it’s not bad. Excited to use more!
